Children through Grade 6

There are many opportunities for children & youth to participate in worship & education at APLC!

Preschool/ Elementary age:

  • All ages are welcome in all worship services!  Children may come up during worship for a children’s sermon each Sunday morning – a short time when the pastors share a message and prayer with the children.
  • Nursery care – child care is also available throughout Sunday mornings for children ages 5 and under in the church nursery located in the upstairs education wing.
  • Sunday school classes – ages 3 yrs. old through 6th grade are encouraged to attend Sunday school classes where they will hear Bible stories, play games, do craft activities, sing, and pray.   Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:30 am.
  • for 2015-2016,  we rolled out an exciting new Sunday school curriculum by Augsburg Publishers called Spark Rotation. The Sunday school classes grades 1-6 meet each Sunday morning to explore a Bible story by rotating to a different work shop within the church. Over the course of one month they explore the same Bible story through Cooking, Science, Art, Drama, Music and Bible Skills & Games. The last Sunday of each month is a Great Gathering where the children can share with their families through fun activities what they have learned over the course of the month. The response to this new curriculum has been very positive and we hope it will continue to breathe new life into our Sunday school program! The Pre-k & kindergarten classes are also using this curriculum but in a self -contained classroom.
  • Vacation Bible school – one week during the summer, children are invited to attend our VBS program!  Lots of action and lots of fun!
  • Choirs – there are two choirs for elementary age children.  The Cherub Choir is for grades kindergarten through 2nd grade.  They meet on Sunday mornings from 9-9:30 am.  The Covenant Choir is for grades 3-6.  Their meeting time is to be determined.
