Children through Grade 6

There are many opportunities for children & youth to participate in worship & education at APLC!

Preschool/ Elementary age:

  • All ages are welcome in all worship services!  Children may come up during worship for a children’s sermon each Sunday morning – a short time when the pastors share a message and prayer with the children.
  • Nursery care – child care is also available throughout Sunday mornings for children ages 5 and under in the church nursery located in the upstairs education wing.
  • Christian Music for Babies and Young Children - on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month from 9:30 to 10:30 am, children from birth to age 4 are welcome to join in a special time of music and movement.  Come play with our parachute, gathering drum, and shakers as we make joyful music together!  (Children must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.)
  • Sunday school classes – Pre-K through 6th grade children are encouraged to attend our Children's Illustrated Ministry Hour where they will hear Bible stories, play games, do craft activities, sing, and pray.   Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:30 am.
  • We've rolled out an exciting new Christian Education curriculum by Augsburg Publishers called Spark. Grades Pre-K-6 meet each Wednesday evening from 6:15 to 7:00 pm (following THE (mid)WAY Connection dinner) to explore a Bible story and related activities.
  • Vacation Bible school – one week during the summer, children are invited to attend our VBS program!  Lots of action and lots of fun!
  • Choirs – there are two choirs for elementary age children.  The Cherub Choir is for grades kindergarten through 2nd grade.  The Covenant Choir is for grades 3-6.  Meeting times are to be determined.
