|Celebrating 50 Years of Mission and Service|
APLC's 50th Anniversary Jubilee
On September 22, 2013, Abiding Presence Luthern Church will celebrate its 50th anniversary of mission & ministry!
For all three services that weekend (Sept. 21-22), we will welcome back to the pulpit Pastor Raymond Mitchell, who served APLC from 1966-1973.
At 10:45 on Sunday, we will celebrate with special music and special guests in a festival service.
Later that day, current and former parishioners will gather for a semi-formal party at the Greenacres Country Club in Lawrenceville. Hors d'oeuvres, dinner, short program, and dancing are all planned for your enjoyment.
Watch for more updates and look for your invitation in the mail. Get ready to celebrate this one-time event!
Abiding Presence Mass
We are pleased to announce that the 10:45 a.m. liturgy on September 22 will be a traditional worship setting composed by our very own Bill Trigg. It contains a Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei, as well as a Gospel Alleluia and responses to the Eucharistic Prayer. It is subtitled “Missa Re-Do-Mi” as its melodic content is based on the 2 nd , 1 st , and 3 rd tones of the scale.
As a professional percussionist and life-long singer, Bill’s music is very rhythmic and singable. Syncopated rhythms and changing meters are used a great deal. The liturgical setting will be accompanied by organ, brass quintet, and percussion. The mass was composed primarily in 2012-13, but the first movement, the Kyrie, was originally written when Bill was 16.
We are grateful that Bill has completed this musical composition in honor of the congregation’s 50 th anniversary!
